Thoughts midst Apocalypse

Coming to you live from my apartment, folks. I spent the preceding 10 minutes looking out the window at the city I love so deeply. I spent years trying to move back to this place I can now call home. And here I am. And yet, here we are.
We all know the trying times that stand before us and I won't speak on it anymore. I will say this - I went through the 7 stages over the last few days. But I can introspectively say now that we can find peace here. We can be safe here. We can look around within these four walls and find things to change, look within ourselves to find things to love. We don't need to worry here.
We are seeing a lot of negativity but we are also seeing the community come together like never before. All sizes of businesses have come forward to help each other, entertainers are doing all they can to keep people in their homes, people working on the ground have not stopped for a minute. Humans are not designed to be unkind.
Meanwhile, I have a laundry list of chores that still require my attention but they haven't been prioritized. Instead, wearing a nice dress my mom bought me in high school is being prioritized. Working on my summer body is being prioritized, ironic because my summer body is quintessentially my every season body. Praying is being prioritized. I opened my closet and looked at the Quran that's been sitting there for the last year, most days I forget it's there. Writing is being prioritized. But as I sit here and think about all the things I usually don't make the time to do, I'm also lost in thoughts from previous entries I've written:
"Being bored is a privilege" - Being stuck in your apartment may drive you nuts but at least we have the luxury to be bored.
"You don't need to travel to find yourself" - I once wrote you don't have to travel corners of the world to find yourself, I never knew the universe would be putting it to test.
We'll make it through this.
And we'll come out stronger.
Love,
Aaisha midst-Apocalypse
P.S: Future Aaisha, if you are reading this and confused what the context is, i'm referring to the coronavirus party that the world has thrown at us
